Dining at Kura Sushi: A Conveyor Belt Adventure in Japan

Today, we’re eating sushi at Kura Sushi, one of Japan’s most popular conveyor belt sushi chain restaurants. We visited one of their many branches in Asakusa. Kura Sushi offers a unique dining experience where you can enjoy quality sushi at an affordable price.

The booths at Kura Sushi are unique. Utensils like chopsticks, soy sauce dishes, and wet towels are stored in a compartment under the table. The table is also equipped with a hot water dispenser and matcha powder to prepare fresh green tea.

If you are craving a specific type of sushi, you can use their convenient iPad system to place your order and wait for it to be delivered to your table via the fast upper conveyor belt. The slow conveyor belt on the lower level features pre-made sushi plates continuously circulating the tables. If you spot something you like, simply take it and enjoy it.

Their sushi plates are reasonably priced, with most of them ranging from as low as JPY 115 to JPY 200. This makes it easy to try a wide variety of sushi without breaking the bank.

Our favorites included the classic tuna, shrimp, bonito, salmon, horse mackerel, and seared salmon with cheese.

Not a fan of raw fish? No problem! Kura Sushi also caters to non-sushi eaters with a variety of options like tempura, ramen, soups, and other fried delights.

After enjoying your meal, you can slide your empty plates into the slot at your table. For every five plates you insert, you get a chance to win a Gachapon.
