Today, we are having dinner at Myeongdong Kyoja, a Michelin bib gourmand restaurant in busy Myeongdong known for serving its signature handmade noodles since 1966. We ordered three of their most popular items: Kalguksu, Mandu, and Bibim Guksu. Let’s eat!

First up, their famous Kalguksu. This bowl of hand-cut noodles is served in a rich broth made with chicken and pork, topped with minced meat and vegetables. The noodles are soft and chewy. The broth was warm and comforting but the flavor is milder than how it looks.

Next, we have Mandu — steamed dumplings filled with pork and vegetables. These are plump, and flavorful, and pair perfectly with their soy-vinegar sauce. I like that it’s made fresh and stuffed generously with meat fillings.

And finally, the Bibim Guksu. These cold, chewy noodles are tossed in a sweet and spicy gochujang-based sauce. It’s tangy and refreshing. I’d like to think that I have a high tolerance for spicy food but the spice on this one was just too much for me. We had a hard time finishing the bowl.
