A Day in Ikseon-dong: Where to Eat, Shop, and Relax in Seoul’s Trendiest Neighborhood

Today, we’re taking you along on a chill day exploring Ikseon-dong, one of Seoul’s most popular neighborhoods. This is the place to be if you love hidden gems, aesthetic cafés, and good food.

Our first stop is Ikseon Chwihyang. We ordered their best sellers, whole pork belly rose pasta, and whirlwind omurice. The rose cream sauce was rich but had a subtle kick of spice that balanced out the creaminess. The pork belly on top was tender and perfectly grilled. This is the best pasta I’ve had in a long time. All three of us loved it.

The whirlwind omurice looked pretty, but the taste was just alright. The fried rice had a nice meaty flavor, which complements the creamy and sweet scrambled egg. We had a good time at Ikseon Chwihyang.

We strolled around and found Blue Elephant, an eyewear store known as the budget alternative of Gentle Monster. Their designs are sleek and modern with a touch of vintage. Most of their glasses cost more or less KRW 49000.

We took a little break at Cheongsudang Cafe, a pretty café that with nature “feels” with its beautiful garden, water elements, and soft lighting. We tried one of their best sellers, original soufflé castella. It has a nice golden crust. It was warm, fluffy, and creamy at the same time. We also tried some of their fruity cold drinks.

And for our last stop, we joined the long line at Jayeondo Salt Bread to grab a bag of their signature salt bread. It’s got that golden, salty crust and a soft, buttery center that pulls apart. Make sure to eat it while it’s hot.
