Today, we’re going on a relaxed day trip to Kyoto from Osaka. Kyoto is only a short ride away, making it perfect for a quick escape from the city.
The first thing we did was pick up our Kyoto-Osaka Sightseeing Pass. It’s a budget-friendly option with unlimited rides between Kyoto and Osaka via Osaka Metro and Keihan Railway. We got the one-day pass through Klook for only PHP 385.00.

First stop: Fushimi Inari Shrine. Famous for its thousands of bright vermillion torii gates, this sacred site is dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice and prosperity. Before walking through the tunnels of gates, we tried our luck with an omikuji (a paper fortune). After shaking a wooden box and drawing a slip, we read our fortunes and tied any bad ones to the designated rack—leaving the bad luck behind!

Next up: Kiyomizudera Temple. This is one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks, known for its impressive wooden stage that offers stunning panoramic views of the city. If you’re visiting in spring or autumn, you will see cherry blossoms in full bloom or vibrant fall foliage making it even more magical.

After soaking in the views, we wandered down Ninenzaka, a beautifully preserved historic street lined with traditional wooden teahouses and quaint souvenir shops. It’s the perfect spot for a slow stroll and to pick up a few unique souvenirs.
