Today, we’ll show you how we spent our 5-day vacation in Dubai, UAE
Our first stop is Dubai Gold Souk, a traditional market located in Deira with more than 380 retailers of gold, jewelry, and other precious metals. Here, you’ll be able to negotiate the price of gold down to just a fraction of what you normally pay at home. Where else in the world will you be able to haggle gold? They have everything in here, from simple engagement rings to intricately designed large gold sets.
Our next stop is Socotra Grill for lunch which serves Yemeni, Arabic, and even Western food. We ordered some of their specialties such as Chicken Madhbi, Sea Brim, and Kunafa. They had big servings perfect for families and reasonably priced menu items.
To learn more about Dubai’s history and get a feel of what the gulf looked like in the past, we went to Al Seef along Dubai Creek where we enjoyed the calming views of the waterfront and took some pictures featuring traditional local architecture of UAE as our backdrop. This is also a great place for pasalubong shopping and dining.
Our next activity is a morning dessert safari tour purchased via Klook. We were picked up from our hotel early in the morning and brought to the red desert for a short camel ride. The ride itself was smooth and comfortable but getting on and off the camel can be a challenge for some.

Next is a 30-minute dune bashing inside a 4×4. It was so thrilling and exciting to go over and around the desert hills although there were times it could get too bumpy and scary. We parked on top of one of the hills to experience sandboarding. It’s so much harder than it looks on TV but it was a fun experience all in all. The morning desert safari costs more or less PHP 1400.00 per person.
Later in the evening, we traveled to Marina Beach where we enjoyed the cool sea breeze and views of lit skyscrapers in the back and the nearby Blue Water Island and Ain Dubai in front of us.
The next day, we accomplished our pasalubong shopping duties at Day to Day, UAE’s number-one discount shopping center where you can find affordable clothing, shoes, fashion accessories, household items, cosmetics, and food items.
Next up is Global Village, Dubai’s multicultural festival park that allows you to travel the world in just a day. They have life-size replicas of famous landmarks and world heritage sites. There are also many stands and restaurants serving international food but it can be a little bit pricey so prepare to spend a fortune when you’re here. You can also try some rides and watch some cultural shows. The Global Village is usually open only from October to April of the following year.
On our last full day, we climbed up the tallest structure in the world, Burj Khalifa which is accessible via Dubai Mall. We booked our tickets to the tower via Klook for PHP 2500.00 per person. We were granted access to the tower’s observation deck located at the 124th and 125th floors. They have an outdoor observation terrace that overlooks the growing skyline of Dubai. We went there in the morning to avoid the crowds in the afternoon when people go up to see the sunset and stay until it get dark to see the city lit up.

While waiting for the fountain and light show, we roamed around Dubai Mall and enjoyed watching a free mermaid show courtesy of Dubai Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world that is also home to many sharks and stingrays.
The best way to end our Dubai trip is to enjoy watching The Dubai Fountain show in the evening just outside of the mall. The Dubai Fountain is recognized as the world’s tallest dancing fountain showcasing water, music, and lights in its performance.
